Kennedy defeated then Vice President and Republican candidate Richard Nixon in the 1960 U.S. presidentialelection, one of the closest in American history. He is the youngest man and the only practicing Roman Catholic to be elected president. He is also the only president to have won a pulitzer prize. The assassination of John F. Kennedy, the thirty-fifth President of the United States, took place on Friday, November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, USAat 12:30 p.m. CST (18:30 UTC). John F. Kennedy was fatally wounded by gunshots while riding with his wife Jacqueline in a presidential motorcade through Dealey Plaza. That Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald.
