His catch phrase is "-izzle," a slang term developed by Oakland, California rap group 3X Krazy in the mid-1990's and popularized primarily by fellow Bay Area rapper E-40. He's mother named snoopy when he was a child for the way he dressed and for he's love to the cartoon peanuts. He took the stage name snoop doggy dogg when he began recording. He then changed he's name to SNOOP DOGG in 1998. When he went to Long Beach Polytechnic High School he was later connvicted for cocaine trafficking and served six months in the wayside county jail.
